Ottawa Therapy Dogs is a Registered Charitable Organization of volunteers promoting the physical, emotional and communicative well-being of persons by offering a mutually beneficial and safe interaction with our own companion animals. We do this by:

• providing quality animal assisted activity (AAA) and animal assisted therapy (AAT) programs following widely accepted standards of practice developed for AAA & AAT, in health care settings such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, mental health programs, nursing and retirement homes, and day programs;
   
• establishing and maintaining our Therapy Dog organization, demonstrating stability with strong administration and leadership for members and the community;
   
• coordinating, supporting, training and providing continuing education to our Therapy Dog volunteers; and
   
• promoting understanding of the value and benefits of the human animal bond and Therapy Dog programs through program introduction and site assessments to facilities, plus educational presentations to the public.
