ORBIS is a non-profit, humanitarian organization that works with local partners in developing countries to save sight through hands-on training, public health education and improved access to eye care. Since our trademark Flying Eye Hospital first took flight, ORBIS has carried out more than 500 programs in 84 countries. We have trained more than 93,000 ophthalmologists, nurses, biomedical engineers, and other healthcare workers. The multiple impacts of this training lasts a lifetime. As eye care professionals master their new skills, they treat patients and train others in an ongoing cycle that produces permanent reductions in the rate of blindness. To date, we estimate that 22.5 million people have been impacted by ORBIS’s training programs.
