OICH VISION
A community in which individuals who are chronically homeless have equitable access to the supports and services they require to maintain or improve their health.
Mission :
The Mission of the Ottawa Inner City Health, Inc is to increase Ottawa’s capacity to address the health care needs of the chronically homeless at both a systems and an individual level, within the ultimate goal of ending homelessness.
Objectives:
Specifically, this organization aims to achieve the following:
| - Increase Ottawa’s capacity to provide convalescent, palliative and long-term care to people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless |
| - Increase Ottawa’s capacity to provide a full range of addiction services |

- Work with community stakeholders to review the requirements for a coordinated approach to providing community support services including case management, health services, outreach and rapid response services

Establish partnerships between the health care community and agencies serving the homeless to improve delivery of outreach and home care services to this population.
Guiding Principles:
Ottawa Inner City Health, Inc will follow three guiding principles:
- Harm Reduction Approach: this is a public health approach emphasizing reducing the negative effects of drug and alcohol use among people who are currently unable to stop using.
- Close Integration with Existing Services: every effort will be made to integrate existing resources into this project and to encourage individuals from this community to access existing programs whenever possible.
- Inclusive of all Cohorts within the Homeless Population: activities of this project will be sensitive to the gender, race, language, culture, ability, and sexual orientation of its clients.
