Mission Statement:

The CCIJ-CCJI seeks to ensure that those present in Canada and accused of committing war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide and torture are brought to justice, and survivors recognized, supported and compensated.

Description:

The CCIJ is an independent, charitable organization founded in 2000 by a group of Canadians and organizations seeking to ensure that the 800 or more war criminals and human rights abusers in Canada are brought to justice and their victims recognized, supported, and compensated. This is to contribute to the emotional and psychological well-being of survivors in Canada, and to increase the safety of Canadian communities. It further contributes to the success of the international justice system as a whole, which is predicated on the ability and willingness of national-level judicial systems to take on the majority of these cases. Through a nation-wide network of lawyers, professors, mental health professionals, students and others, the CCIJ offers legal advice and services to survivors and community agencies, education, training and resources.
